2010 Census

2010 Census logo The 2010 Census Count is underway!

The 2010 Census is important because:

  • Every year, more than $300 billion in federal funds is awarded based on census data.
  • It is short (10 questions) and confidential.
  • The information helps determine the locations for services and businesses such as schools, roads, hospitals, child-care, senior centers, and more.
  • Census population determines representation for our state in US House of Representatives and how our local districts are drawn.
  • We lose funding for our state when individuals do not participate; an estimated $1000 annually per uncounted person.

More information is available on the North Carolina Census 2010 site.
